Therefore, I urge you brothers in view of God’s mercy to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual act of worship.

Our Story
A Church is Born

In January, 1978 Edmund W. Robb, III was appointed founding pastor of TWUMC. Since that time, our driving mission has been winning people to Jesus Christ, discipling them in faith, and helping those in need.

From the beginning, The Woodlands United Methodist Church has experienced phenomenal growth. In just 25 years, membership has escalated from 76 to over 6,500 people - making it one of the nation’s fastest growing congregations!

A number of factors contribute to this success. Foremost is the church’s location in a highly successful master-planned community. In addition, the church’s success has been its ability to target and meet the needs of the community. TWUMC is known for its innovative and varied programming. For example, the church recognizes that in order to reach today’s youth, a variety of ports of entry are necessary. No one style or method will communicate to the whole range of teenagers. It takes a diverse youth ministry to meet a diverse youth culture. Furthermore, it takes both dedicated facilities and staff to provide a ministry that reaches across the youth culture spectrum.

Whether it’s providing a full scale outreach, operating the town’s most desired preschool, or meeting the concerns of parents and senior citizens - the church leads the Montgomery County/North Houston area in offering opportunities for people to improve their lives.

Growing in Spirit. . . .
But numbers, bricks and mortar are not the half of it. Amazing to behold is the way the church has grown in Spirit. From a handful of Sunday worshippers, we have become a seven-days-a-week church. From a wandering band of Christians, we have become an equipping station, preparing and sending out servants into every conceivable mission field. Countless families have been forever touched by God’s grace through the ministry of The Woodlands United Methodist Church. Through the course of our 25 years we have seen over 20 men and women answer the call to vocational ministry. And each year we have grown in our expression of support and involvement in Christ’s mission in our community, as well as around the world.

Moving In Faith …
Believing God’s call to take another gigantic leap of faith, after 20 years at our Panther Creek location, our church made the decision to relocate. Strapped by physical building constraints such as inadequate parking and meeting space, the church purchased 22 acres of land situated in The Woodlands Town Center. After 2 ½ years of design, development, and construction, our new church campus, located at 2200 Lake Woodlands Drive, is complete.
ABOUT GOD
God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He exists eternally in three personalities: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. God is both holy and loving.

ABOUT JESUS CHRIST
Jesus Christ is the unique Son of God. He lived a sinless human life and died on the cross to atone for our sins. He rose from the dead and ascended to heaven and will return again to earth.

ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT
The Holy Spirit is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. When we receive Jesus as the leader of our lives and the forgiver of our sins, the Holy Spirit comes to live within us. He provides us with power for living, enables us to understand spiritual truth, and guides us in doing what pleases God. As Christians we seek to live under his control daily.

ABOUT THE BIBLE
The Bible is God’s word written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the final authority for determining our Christian beliefs and how we are to live.

ABOUT HUMAN BEINGS
People are made in the spiritual image of God - we are rational and moral beings. Because we are God’s creation made in God’s image, each person possesses great self-worth. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of self-centeredness which the Bible calls “sin”. This attitude and its resultant actions separate us from God, others and ourselves.

ABOUT BEING MADE RIGHT WITH GOD
Becoming right with God and having our relationship with God restored is what the Bible calls salvation. Salvation is God’s free gift to us. We can never earn it or achieve it by self-improvement or good works. We accept God’s gift of a new life when we turn from our self-ruled life and accept Jesus as our Savior. The new life that God gives us is an abundant life in this world and eternal life in the world to come.

ABOUT THE KIND OF LIFE WE ARE SUPPOSED TO LIVE
Though we are not made right with God by our own goodness, “good works” are not optional for the Christian life. When we give our lives to Christ, it is expected that we will grow towards loving God with all our being and our neighbors as ourselves.
