Web Applications Save Families (well, sort of)

At 42 years of age, Jaime St. Pierre was entering his third year of completely taking over the successful logging business that his father handed over to him.  It was still quite successful, yet year by year, the numbers were dwindling.  what was more frustrating is that Jaime was working between 70 and 80 hours a week to keep everything going.  He was not excited about where the business would be in 10 years.  More importantly, Jaime was worried how his family would handle several more years of him working 70+ hours each week.

His home life was stressful, because he always had his mind on work.  The quality of life he had hoped for just seemed to not be there anymore.  Yes, Jaime’s mind was tormented by thoughts of missed deadlines, low production, confused employees and competition who seemed to have it all together, somehow.

Did Jaime need more workers?  Cheaper suppliers?  Better paying customers?  No!  His troubles always seemed to be organizationally oriented.  If only he had a centralized system that was accessible by him, his workers and his clients.  If only everyone could be on the same page at any given time.  Surely, this would cut his work week in half, his stress levels down significantly and drastically increase his quality of life with his family at home.

But How?

Enter the all mighty web application ….

The definition of a business operation’s efficiency has drastically changed over the past decade.  Not too long ago, the majority of company filing systems were completely paper driven.  Could you imagine a world without the internet?  Nightmares of stacks of paper falling over on your desk, and filing cabinets stacked to the sky may come to your mind.  Just ask Jaime.

The truth is, that many companies are still like this today.  It is not as black and white as it may seem, however.  Many companies have been in a transition period for years when it comes to putting more of their business operations in digital format.

Today, we will be looking at having them on the Internet.  Oftentimes, these are called website applications.  They are like a website, because they are accessible on the internet, but they are also an application because they have similarities to various programs you might run on your computer.

I feel that more and more businesses would be moving toward going paperless with a web application, if only they knew what the benefits were.  Lets take a look!

The Benefits for your Clients

We have built numerous systems with our client’s clients in mind.  This can take the form of many things.  Whether you can allow them to login and track their orders online, view their billing online, or view scheduling - all can prove to be benefits for you and your clients.  Not only does this increase your chances of landing more business with them, it also helps in terms of work time.  The more they can access themselves means the less time you have to field phone calls, and look up information for them.

The benefits for your Employees

With the use of a web application, scheduling, project management, inventory tracking, and more will give your entire organization one centralized location point by which they can conduct business.  No matter if people are on vacation, on the road, in a hotel or sick at home - You can be sure that a properly built web application will give your company the ability to make sure everyone is on the same page - at all times!

Finally, the benefits for YOU

As a business owner myself, i know what it was like to go to bed without being able to turn off the “work” switch in my brain.  In the early years of my company, I was always thinking about projects, being concerned with the quality of work delivered, working unfathomable hours and unable to take vacations.  If this resembles what you go through in any way, shape, form or fashion, then a web application is definitely for you.  Does a stress-free, 40 hour work week seem like a pipe dream to you?  It shouldn’t be!

A call to ACTION

Get out a pen and paper (or better yet, fire up your favorite typing program) and start jotting down ways you could see your business operation benefitting from a custom built web application.  Be clear, intentional and think BIG.  After all, you didn’t get where you are today by chance, did you?  A custom built web application for your business could not only cut out loads of stress - it could quite possibly take your company to the next level.

Are you ready to take the steps necessary to have less stress at work and home?  Jaime was, and you should be too.
