The Million Idea Man Next Door

Evan was a passionate guy. He always had a million ideas in his head, and was willing to talk about them to anyone who would listen. Some of the ideas were half-baked, but every once in a while he would think up a fantastic idea. Evan would lose sleep over his ideas, strategizing how exactly he could go about becoming a success. Yes, Evan a great mind for business.

So, what did Evan end up doing? Well … he thought up a handful of other ideas, which gave him even more ideas. He had so many good ideas after a while, he could have written a book.

Evan had so many ideas swimming around in his head, he never had any time to even give a wholehearted attempt to implement any of them! The only thing his ideas did was waste his time and energy. He did not make a single cent off of any idea he ever had.

So what exactly happened? Evan failed to take action. It was far easier for him to come up with more “award winning” ideas than it would have been to even try to test anything out.

Many of us may not be as bad as Evan is, but I am sure we all know at least one person in our lives who is always passionately spouting out “the next great idea”. How many ideas do you have that you feel can help your business? What is keeping you from executing? Is it fear of looking dumb? Fear of failure? Lack of time? Lack of motivation? Whatever it is, allow me to offer you some motivation: Everyone has great ideas. It is the implementation, and careful measurement of results that separate the successful people in life from the wannabes.

It is thinking like this that can not only help you in business, but it can also help you with your website - especially if it has the capability of being easily edited. Changing copy and graphics in your web pages can show you better response in terms of how many calls you get. It has been said that advertisement responses can more than triple with the change of just a few words. What a fantastic capability you would have to test things instantaneously on the web!

A few lines up, I spoke about the importance of carefully measuring your results. If your website only gets 10 hits a month, and you change some pictures around, how are you going to know if it truly helps? When you change things, you need to have the traffic to measure adequate results. Your website host will quite possibly have a free traffic analyzer to measure your traffic. If not, you may contact us about hosting - or even the implementation of Google Analytics - a powerful traffic analysis tool.

It may take a few tries when it comes to changing things around before you find true success, but just remember - you will never succeed if you don’t try!
